LGBT AdoptionAt Adoption SF, we are proud of the fact that nearly half of the families we work with are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) families. Though there are states that prohibit LGBT families from adopting, happily, that is not the case in California. LGBT families are an invaluable resource for the many children and youth in foster care awaiting an adoptive family. They often bring unique strengths to meet their special needs.
Some of these waiting children are themselves LGBTQ—lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning. They need families who will provide safe and stable care in an accepting family environment.
The process of adopting a waiting child can be a very emotional and at times intrusive undertaking. You’ll want to know that your agency is committed to you and will be supportive throughout the foster/adoption process—and beyond.
Adoption SF is committed to serving all families equally with dignity and respect, including LGBT couples and single parents.
If you’re considering building your family by adopting a waiting foster child, please give us a call. We welcome you. And we’ll feel privileged to become your full partner on the journey.
